The Camillus Solvay Geddes Rotary Club is hosting its 7th Annual Mule Skinner 5K Run/ Walk on Towpath Day, the 200th Anniversary of the Erie Canal on Saturday, August 12, 2017.  

Registration on Race day begins at 7:30 AM at the Newport Rd. Camillus Fire Station. The race for both walkers and runners begins promptly at 9:00 AM. The trail takes runners along Devoe Rd. through the towpath trail along the Camillus branch of the Erie Canal. Towards the Aqueduct and then crosses Thompson Rd towards Thompson farm and circles back along Thompson Rd to Devoe Rd. and the Finish line.  Gift cards and medals are awarded categories of finishes by age. All participants will receive a 7th Annual Mule Skinner medal for their participation.

In addition to the race, there will be programs celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM including canal boat tours, Morris Dancers, crafts for the kids, raffles and more. At 7:30 PM there will be live entertainment from bluegrass band “Diamond Someday” and Dixieland band “The Soda Ash Six” followed by a fireworks show at the aqueduct.
